Assistant Professor Position in Algorithms at FU Berlin

invites applications for a
Junior Professorship in Theoretical Computer Science
(salary grade W 1)

The successful applicant will assume responsibilities in research and
teaching in the area named above. Appointment requirements are governed
by Article 102a of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner
Hochschulgesetz).

Candidates will have outstanding and innovative international research
in the field of algorithms (for example computational geometry, graph
algorithms, algorithms for combinatorial problems). She or he will have
experience with grant-sponsored research and have an excellent track
record of university teaching.

Apart from the official duties that the appointee has to fulfill in
accordance with Article 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act in
particular, the following activities need to be fulfilled additionally:

The appointee will strengthen the research area Theoretical Computer
Science at Freie Universität Berlin and work with colleagues of the
research groups. She or he will further develop and teach courses in
Theoretical Computer Science in the bachelor's and master's programs.
Additionally, the junior professor will be prepared to participate in
collaborations within the Berlin area and work interdisciplinarily,
especially with the working groups of discrete mathematics as well as
with the Berlin Mathematical School (BMS).

The junior professor will be appointed as a civil servant for an initial
period of three years. Reappointment is contingent upon positive
evaluation of performance and may be extended for three more years.

needed), if applicable the letter of appointment, a list of
publications, a list of courses previously taught and evidence of
teaching competence. Furthermore, please include information on
involvement in ongoing and future research endeavors, joint research
projects and externally funded projects, and if necessary language
certificates. If applicable for the respective content areas, please
give information on industrial cooperations, inventions/patents and
spin-offs.
