Junior Professorship in Discrete Geometry

The successful applicant will assume responsibilities in research and teaching in the area named above.

Appointment requirements are governed by Article 102a of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz).

Candidates will have a convincing track record of university teaching and research (preferably internationally). She or he will have extensive research experience in Discrete Geometry, preferably using methods from, or with applications to, Topological Combinatorics, Geometric Topology, Computational Geometry, Discrete Mathematics, or Differential Geometry. She or he will be prepared to teach also in English and have experience with sponsored research.

The appointee will participate in the teaching of the research group Discrete Geometry at the Institute of Mathematics, for example in the lecture series Discrete Geomety I-III, which is offered in English at the Berlin Mathematical school on a yearly basis. The junior professor will actively participate in the Berlin-Munich Collaborative Research Center Discretization in Geometry and Dynamics (Sonderforschungsbereich Transregio 109); as a member of the Faculty of the Berlin Mathematical School; as well as in other existing and upcoming third party funded projects of Berlin Mathematics.

The junior professor will be appointed as a civil servant for an initial period of three years. Reappointment is contingent upon positive evaluation of performance and may be extended for three more years.
