[DMANET] Assistant Professor in Multicore Computing at Chalmers University of Technology

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Chalmers University of Technology invites applicants to a position as Assistant Professor in 
-  Multicore Computing 

Chalmers is one of the most renowned technical universities in the Nordic countries. The CSE department in Chalmers has 76 faculty members including teaching staff and enrolls about 90 PhD students from more than 30 countries. The research spans the whole spectrum, from pure theory to the development of applied systems. There is extensive national and international collaboration with academia and industry. The Division of Networks and Systems within the CSE department is active in multicore computing research. We are conducting high-impact research on the design and analysis of lock- and wait-free data structures for shared memory systems, run-time systems, and parallel algorithms and data structures for highly parallel, heterogeneous, many-core systems. We are involved in national and international projects in the area and we are currently coordinating a European Project in Execution Models for Energy-Efficient Computing Systems. 

Major responsibilities
--------------------------
We are particularly interested in expertise in the algorithmic, computing and data structures of multicore systems, and especially related to engineering reality.
The applicant is expected to reinforce and complement this research in domains such as performance portability, energy efficiency and data streaming.
We expect our researchers to demonstrate academic leadership, ability to direct research and attract research funding.

The person appointed is also expected to develop and teach courses within our international MSc degree programme and in particular to teach courses in operating systems and system programming. 

Suitable background and qualifications
----------------------------------------------
You should have an outstanding record of research in the area of multicore computing, especially its relation to engineering practice. To qualify for the position as assistant professor, you must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field; the degree should generally not be older than five years. You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education. Interest in connecting educational activities with research and development is especially welcome. 

Position summary
----------------------
The position as Assistant Professor is a Full-time, non-tenured, position for a maximum of four years. Progress will be assessed after two years. You are expected to reach the Swedish docent level (in Swedish "oavlönad docent") within four years. 

Commonly, undergraduate courses are taught in Swedish, while graduate level teaching is in English. Applicants who do not have Swedish as native language should preferably be able to teach in Swedish after two years of employment.
