Open PhD/Postdoc position in Theoretical Computer Science at FSU Jena

The Chair of Theoretical Computer Science I at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena invites applications for a

PhD student / postdoc position (100%).

The position is available immediately. The salary scale for the position is full-time TV-L EG 13 with a monthly gross salary between 3186 EUR and 4598 EUR depending on experience and previous position. The first contract may be limited to two years with the possibility of extension for another two years.

Applicants should have an interest in at least one of the following topics:
-- random structures and algorithms
-- discrete and distributed algorithms
-- probabilistic and quasirandom methods
-- analysis of nature-inspired search heuristics

Applicants should have an excellent first academic degree in mathematics, computer science or related discipline. Applications should include a detailed CV, a copy of master (or PhD) thesis, a brief statement of research interests, and a list of publications (if applicable). Please also mention two references –preferably one from the thesis advisor. Applicants interested in doing a PhD should also include a list of courses and grades.
