CALL FOR PAPERS

Special Issue "New Developments in Scheduling and Manufacturing" in

International Journal of Production Research

Special Issue Editors:
Dirk Briskorn, University of Siegen, Germany
Erwin Pesch, University of Siegen, Germany
Frank Werner, Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg, Germany

This special issue is inspired by a track with the same title organized
by the guest editors at the 14th IFAC Symposium on Information Control
Problems in Manufacturing which took place in Bucharest (Romania) from
May 23 - May 25, 2012.

The issue intends to give the state-of-the-art of scheduling research
that satisfies practical needs of modern manufacturing and resource
planning.
Interdisciplinary methodologies may be given, based on advanced
scheduling and combinatorial optimization techniques, in order to
provide efficient
solution procedures for practical scheduling problems.
The aim of this issue is to attract high-quality papers representing the
most recent developments of models and solution techniques used for
scheduling in manufacturing systems which include parallel as well as
multi-stage facilities, coordinating scheduling with transportation
decisions,
and scheduling in segments of a supply chain. Submitted papers have to
comply with the philosophy of the journal.

Potential topics include but are not limited to:
- - grouping and sequencing operations in multi-stage systems
- - scheduling in flexible shops
- - scheduling with precedence constraints, batching/lot sizing, setups
and further technological constraints either with a single (regular or
non-regular) and multi-criteria objectives
- - scheduling heuristics
- - scheduling under uncertainty
- - scheduling in segments of a supply chain

As well as the participants of the Symposium mentioned above, the wider
community of the operations research society is invited to submit their
latest results in the above or closely related areas.

Refereeing process:
Authors should submit their paper via
http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tprs and select "Special Issue: New
Developments in Scheduling and
Manufacturing" when asked to indicate the "Manuscript Type" in the
submission process. It is recommended that a paper does not exceed 6000
words.
Submitted papers must not have have been previously published nor be
currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. Refereeing and the
selection of papers will be carried out according to the standards of
International Journal of Production Research.

Important Dates:
Deadline for submissions: December 31, 2012.
Notification of acceptance: November 1, 2013.
