Ph.D/Post-Doc Position Math/CS/OR, RWTH Aachen University

The Operations Research Group at RWTH Aachen University, Germany,
invites applications for a

PH.D. or POST-DOC POSITION IN OPERATIONS RESEARCH

We are a growing interdisciplinary team with research and teaching
interests in operations research, discrete mathematics, and
theoretical computer science. Welcomed topics are integer programming,
discrete and combinatorial optimization, algorithmic graph theory and
graph algorithms, scheduling, algorithm engineering, and any other
methodological field of operations research. Fundamental research goes
hand in hand with practical applications.

The successful candidate will engage her/himself in the group's
research and teaching activities. She/he is expected to work towards a
Ph.D degree; post-docs are invited to sharpen their own academic
profile by pursuing independent research and to collaborate with the
group's Ph.D. students.

This full-time position is for two years, with the possibility of
prolongation. The starting date is negotiable, but March 1, 2012 is
prefered, subject to the availability of funds. Salary is according
to the German TV-L E13 tariff (starts at about 3100 euros/month
gross).

You hold (or are close to the completion of) an excellent M.Sc. (or
Ph.D.) in discrete mathematics, computer science, operations research,
or a related discipline? You have a profound knowledge in at least one
of the above listed research topics? Theory matters to you as much as
applications? You are gifted with strong computer skills? You are
eager to work on your academic career in an excellent environment, at
a top-ranked university, with a highly motivated team? You are
proficient with, or are willing to learn the German language? Then do
not hesitate to hand in your application.
