Opening for Research Assistant Professor

 

Applications are invited for an opening at the level of Research Assistant Professor (RAP) in bioinformatics. Successful applicants will

join the bioinformatics research group and conduct research in topics related to computational biology and bioinformatics. The positions are initially for one year, but renewable up to three years depending on the applicant's performance. The starting salary is about HK$516,720 (approximately US$66,000) for 12 months. Annual leave and medical benefits will also be available.

 

Candidates are expected to hold a PhD degree in a relevant discipline at the time of taking up the position and have proven record of outstanding research in a related area. Proven records of successful grant applications will be an advantage. Note that RAP posts are created specifically to bring new impetus and vigour to the University's research enterprise. The main focus of an RAP's duty is on research. However, RAPs may be assigned some teaching duties, up to 50% of the normal teaching load depending on the need of the department and the direct supervisor(s).
