A number of attractive PhD grants within the focus areas are available
at the School of Management of Politecnico di Milano
(www.dig.polimi.it). The School main objective is research, which is
pursued through collaborations with leading Italian and international
schools and institutions. Alongside research, the School focuses on
education. The School of Management hosts the Doctorate of Research in
Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering (DRIG), a training path
for research in the fields of management, economics and
industrial engineering.

The successful candidates will obtain their degrees from Politecnico di
Milano. The PhD program requires between 3 and 5 years of study,
depending on the background of the candidate. The successful candidate
should have a Master's degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics,
Computer Science, Econometrics, or a related field. A solid background
in Optimization, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Operations Research and
Computer Science is highly appreciated

The research topic is at the crossroads between data mining and
optimization. No specfic pre-knowledge is required, except having
received a solid mathematical education and a Master's degree; students
who are about to finish their Master's degree are also encouraged to apply.
