The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at The Pennsylvania State
University is an integral part of one of the leading research
universities in the nation and serves as a university center of
excellence in Defense science and technologies, with a focus in naval
missions and related areas. ARL is currently searching to fill a
Postdoctoral Scholar position in our Distributed Systems Department.
As an integral part of the Applied Research Laboratory's Information
Science and Technology Division (IS&T), the Distributed Systems
Department has a unique mix of capabilities. It contains engineers
with decades of practical experience, Ph.D.s with theoretical
background and many students with fresh perspectives and enthusiasm.
Although our domain is deeply rooted in the domains of computer
science, telecommunications, and electrical engineering, current
partners of the department include academics in the areas of compiler
design, power engineering, biology, and industrial engineering.

You will conduct cutting edge research in the area of sensor networks
and autonomous systems. Requirements include a Ph.D. in Computer
Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or
Mathematics/Statistics. You must have knowledge in one or more of the
following areas: Sensor networks; mobile ad hoc networks; sensor data
fusion; autonomous systems; and dynamic control. Experience in network
control, information processing and systems and computer security are
highly desirable. The initial appointment is for one year with
excellent possibility for an additional two years renewal. YOU MUST BE
