Our group is internationally renowned in the area of algorithm
engineering, i.e., an approach to algorithmics that takes theoretical
and practical relevance equally serious. We are hiring researchers
interested/competent in one or several of the following areas:
- parallel algorithms, in particular
* multicore, GPU, or MPI programming
* performance portability issues
* load balancing and scheduling
* parallel external memory algorithms
- graph algorithms, in particular
* route planning
* graph partitioning and clustering
- handling large data sets, in particular
* algorithms for data bases
* text indexing and string algorithms
- vehicle routing
- green computing

Exceptional candidates working in other areas of algorithmics
are also welcome.

Prerequisites:
- good to excellent diploma or Masters degree from a good university
- solid education in algorithmics
- excellent programming skills preferably in C++
(or excellent abilities in algorithm theory)
- interest in both basic research and practical
exploitation of algorithmic ideas
- Postdocs should have several publications on an algorithmic subject
in good conferences, (e.g. Alenex, ESA, SODA, ...).

The CS department at KIT is consistently ranked among the top CS
programs in Germany and situated ideally in the town centre at the rim
of a big park. Karlsruhe is near the Black Forest and the Alsace and
within one train hour from Frankfurt Airport.

Please send (preferably by email using pdf):
- CV with list of publications
- a short research plan (1 page for PhD students, 2 pages for Postdocs)
- addresses of people willing to write a letter of reference
- copies of transcripts
- copies of your two or three most relevant
papers/theses (if available)
