[DMANET] Full Professor position in Discrete Mathematics

The Freie Universität Berlin invites applications for a tenured

Professorship in Discrete Mathematics (W3).

The successful applicant will be required to cover the area named above in
teaching and research. In accordance with article 100 of the Berlin Higher
Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz), only applicants with substantial
academic or scientific accomplishments will be considered (i.e., junior
professors or individuals with equivalent forms of scholarly or practical
experience). The successful candidate will have an outstanding track
record of university teaching and internationally acclaimed research
activities in one or more fields within the greater research area of
discrete mathematics (including combinatorics, graph theory and
algorithms). She or he should have proven competence in one of the
application areas of the DFG Research Center MATHEON, as well as
experience acquiring funding for, and carrying out, sponsored research.
The appointee will represent the field of Discrete Mathematics and
Theoretical Computer Science at the Department and is therefore expected
to actively participate in the DFG Research Center MATHEON, the research
training group Methods for Discrete Structures, as well as the Berlin
Mathematical School. She or he is further required to assume
administrative tasks in the academic institutions concerned.

The language of instruction is mainly German, but some teaching may be
conducted in English. A non-German-speaking appointee will need to be able
to teach in German within a reasonable time frame.
The vacancy is a tenured position at the rank of W3. The successful
candidate will be appointed either as a civil servant or as a salaried
employee with comparable terms and conditions.
